Cebu City National Science High School (CCNSHS) celebrated World Teachers’ Day through a heartwarming Luau-themed program at the school gymnasium on October 3, 2024.

The event began with the preliminary activities, with SPTA President Judge Yvette Christine R. Labrador-Soleng leading the welcoming remarks.

A standout moment of the event was the "Your Face Teaches Familiar" segment, where selected students participated in a competition, showcasing their best impressions of their teachers. Two representatives from each batch participated, bringing humor and creativity to the program. Alphea Rago, portraying Mrs. Michelle J. Caintic from Grade 9, and Michael Andrew Bitamor, Mr. Julius Bryan Yburan from Grade 12, were declared the winners.

Ms. Aisa V. Soroño, an alumna of the school, delivered a special address thanking the teachers for their dedication and hard work. She shared personal experiences from her time as a scholar in Science High, emphasizing the impact of her teachers on her success.

A heartfelt presentation for the teachers followed, where teachers were honored for their passionate commitment to education through singing and gift-giving. The program concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Jonah B. Bacalso, Head of the Science, ICT, and Math Department, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of gratitude for the incredible contributions of SciHi's educators.

“We’d love to show our teachers how grateful we are for everything they’ve done. We know that what they do is not easy, and they are the reason we achieve so much in competitions and other accomplishments. Through this program, we want to show them how thankful we are," the SSLG President, Mr. Julian Philippe Signe, stated at the end of the program.

The day ended with continued festivities in the afternoon, including pampering services and games for the teachers in the school library. Various sponsors provided complimentary haircuts, nail care, massages, and raffles.

“Always give your best and teach without regrets. Whether you feel appreciated or not, loved or not, despite the challenges, it will always bring you the fulfillment and happiness that fuel your passion and energy to continue being the teacher you aspire to be," expressed Mrs. Janice Lepetin when asked about her advice to all the teachers, especially to those new to the field.

The Luau-themed World Teachers' Day celebration showcased the deep appreciation of students and alumni for SciHi’s teachers, whose unwavering dedication continues to inspire excellence and shape the future.
